If the equipment operates for more than 10 hours per day, the mechanical service factor should be selected based on the prime mover type, the number of operating hours per day, and the load characteristics of the equipment it is connected to, ensuring that the appropriate gear life catalog rating allows for momentary 100% overload during startup, braking, or operation, up to a maximum of 10 times per day. Therefore, the catalog rating of the selected equipment should be at least equal to or greater than half of the maximum overload achieved during its operation period. The gearbox's service life can be determined by comparing the actual transmitted load with the catalog rating.
