Plastic Pillow Block BearingsPlastic pillow block bearings are designed to replace cast and stainless steel pillow block bearings for extreme wear or applications requiring USDA and FDA compliance. Our plastic pillow block bearings are made from high-quality virgin UHMW with a minimum molecular weight of 4.2 million for extended wear and performance. These bearings are manufactured to standard bearing dimensions (bolt holes, hole spacing, seat height, etc.), so they are directly interchangeable with common brands without equipment adjustments and modifications. Standard bore diameters range from 1/2" to 3" ID. The standard operating temperature for these bearings is 200°F; however, for high-temperature applications, we also manufacture these bearings using acetal materials capable of operating up to 600°F. In addition, UHMW plastic pillow block bearings are self-lubricating due to the properties of plastic materials. Applications of Plastic Pillow Block Bearings

The bearing housings of plastic pillow block bearings are made of high-temperature resistant polymer materials. The whole bearing unit has the characteristics of resistance to certain high and low temperatures, certain rigidity, excellent corrosion resistance, lightweight and easy installation, and disassembly. In addition, the surface of plastic housing does not require coating or plating, and the texture is smoothed by machining to avoid the growth of mold and bacteria caused by dust and water. This unit is designed for cleaning and is much more hygienic than the cast iron type. Plastic pillow block bearings can run dry, wet, or fully submerged. Because of these characteristics are currently used in many industries, including food processing, medical equipment, packaging machinery, chemical processing machinery, and pool and marine applications.

The Installation of Pillow Block Bearing

Mounting steps for pillow block bearing:

1. Check whether the position tolerance of the connecting hole at the mounting position of the pillow block bearing and the flatness of the fixed base surface of the pillow block bearing meet the requirements.
2. Clean pillow block bearing and pillow block bearing to be installed on the base position and the surface of the shaft with a cleaning agent to keep the surface free of impurities and dust, and coat the surface with a layer of anti-rust oil.
3. Install the shaft into the bore of inserted bearing; during the installation process, only use tools such as a rubber hammer or nylon rod to strike the end face of the insert bearing's inner race to move, and do not strike other positions of other bearing housings.
4. After the pillow block bearing is installed in the proper position of the shaft, fix the pillow block bearing on the base, and tighten the bolts according to the specified torque requirements.
5. After installing the pillow block bearings at both ends, the shaft should be able to move axially between the bearing holes with a certain amount of force, ensuring good alignment of the pillow block bearing at both ends. Otherwise, it is necessary to reposition and adjust the pillow block bearing.
6. Use appropriate torque to alternately tighten the eccentric sleeves on the inner ring of the bearing at both ends to ensure that the bearing is firmly fastened to the shaft.
