The performance of the reducer depends on proper installation, lubrication, and maintenance. There are two common installation methods:
Ensure that the shaft and the gearbox unit hole are clean and free from burrs. Apply a sufficient amount of lubricating oil on the shaft and the hole to aid assembly and prevent friction corrosion. Slide the unit onto the drive shaft and install the key on the shaft.
Mount the unit securely on a sturdy structure. Install the output extended shaft if required. Use an elastic coupling for the connection between shafts and ensure that the shaft misalignment is within the range of the coupling. When mounting pulleys or sprockets on two shafts, position them as close to the gearbox as possible. Do not strike the shafts during the installation or removal of transmission components, as it may damage the bearings.

Proper lubrication and maintenance are essential for the smooth operation and longevity of the reducer. The following guidelines should be followed:
- Oil Change: Size 870 and 871 gearboxes are lubricated for life, except when operating in explosive environments. All other sizes of gearboxes require oil change based on the operating temperature of the equipment. Half of the oil should be replaced in new gearboxes after 1000 hours of operation or one year, or as indicated by the specified service life.

| Problem | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Excessive noise | Worn gears or bearings | Replace worn components |
| Overheating | Lack of lubrication or excessive load | Check lubrication and reduce load if necessary |
| Leakage of lubricating oil | Damaged seals or gaskets | Replace damaged seals or gaskets |
| Abnormal vibration | Imbalanced components or misalignment | Balance components or align properly |
| Failure to start | Electrical or motor issues | Check |
